Do you want to discover what it’s really like to work in the pharmaceutical industry in Valladolid, and what a chemist actually does there? Blanca Martín and Estefanía Gioria will share their experience at Curia.

The University Institute Center for Innovation in Chemistry and Advanced Materials (IU CINQUIMA) has organized a lecture titled ‘Curia Opens the Doors to the Pharmaceutical Industry of Castilla y León’, which will take place on Friday, February 20, 2026, coinciding with the University of Valladolid’s Open Day. This activity offers an excellent opportunity to showcase how university training connects with work in the business sector.

Curia, a leading pharmaceutical company located in the Boecillo Technology Park, has maintained a close collaboration for years with researchers from the University of Valladolid. The invited speakers, Blanca Martín and Estefanía Gioria, completed their doctoral theses at the IU CINQUIMA and currently hold prominent positions in the company’s R&D department (Blanca since 2004 and Estefanía since 2018).

In their talk, both speakers will address the general process involved in the development of new medicines and will explain in greater detail the activities carried out by Curia in Valladolid. They will also offer a direct perspective on the role chemists play within the pharmaceutical industry, sharing their own professional experience.
